August, 2008

8/28/08 - New reports include product reports on Sony Ericsson's W350, Nokia's E71, and competitive intelligence reports on Sony Ericsson getting back into T-Mobile USA with the TM506, and Nokia's 8800 Carbon Arte and the high end of the fashionphone market. The Company Assessment on Motorola is in the peer/editorial process and should be posted next week.

I've got a Palm Treo Pro in for review; it is the first truly attractive phone from Palm since, well, probably ever. It's also chock full of features. I will  have a full report on it after it reaches the market. I finally got around to upgrading my HTC Tilt with an official AT&T build of Windows Mobile 6.1. Assuming you can find it (it's on HTC's support site - NOT the place many AT&T business customers are likely to look), it's a no brainer.

8/15/08 - Celio sent over a Redfly earlier this week - an accessory for smartphones (conceptually similar to Palm's canceled foleo). Setup was straightforward, and it's certainly an interesting device. I'll be covering it either as a product report or as part of a longer advisory report about the "MID" form factor devices.

My report on Nokia's E71 is being edited and should be posted first thing next week. I'm expecting several major product announcements over the next couple of weeks (sorry, I can't be more specific than that), and will intersperse writing about those with further Company Assessment updates.

8/11/08 - I've just updated our Company Assessment on Palm and started updating the report on Motorola, which will contain our analysis on the appointment of Sanjay Jha to Co-CEO. I also have a bunch of eagerly anticipated new devices in for review: RIM's BlackBerry Bold, Nokia's N96, and Nokia's E71; all will get write-ups at some point (the Bold isn't running final firmware, and I suspect that the N96 also might not be).

Last month's reports included:

Other recent reports include an Advisory Report on How To Compete with the iPhone 3G; reviews of Motorola's ROKR E8, Motorola's Q Global, Nokia's 6205 Dark Knight Edition, Samsung's Flipshot, and Samsung's Glyde; a Competitive Intelligence Report on LG's Dare; a Competitive Update on the Samsung Instinct at Sprint, and an update to the Market Assessment of the overall consumer handset market.
